[Home](https://indiamedhealth.com/) / Questions & Answers For international patients # Questions & Answers Clear answers to the practical questions patients and families commonly ask before travelling to India for medical treatment. [Send your reports](https://indiamedhealth.com/contact/)[Ask us on WhatsApp](https://wa.me/919810629280) ## Before you decide to travel How do I start if I am considering treatment in India? Send a brief summary of the medical problem together with your recent reports, scans and treatment history. We can help organise the information, identify the appropriate specialty and coordinate a specialist review before you make travel decisions. Can you arrange a second medical opinion? Yes. A second opinion can be useful when the diagnosis is complex, major surgery is being considered, different treatments are possible, or you simply want greater clarity before travelling. The opinion itself comes from a qualified treating specialist. How do you choose a doctor or hospital? We look at the clinical problem first: the specialty required, relevant expertise, treatment options, hospital facilities and the practical needs of the patient. The aim is clinical fit rather than promoting a particular hospital. Can I compare more than one hospital or specialist? Yes, where appropriate. Comparing opinions can help you understand whether the proposed treatment pathways are similar, where they differ and what questions you should ask before deciding. ## Costs, visa and travel Can you tell me the exact treatment cost before I travel? Hospitals can usually provide an estimate after reviewing your medical information. It is important to treat this as an estimate rather than a guaranteed final bill because costs can change if additional investigations, procedures, medicines, complications or a longer hospital stay are required. Do you help with medical visas? We can help coordinate hospital documentation and explain the usual practical steps for medical travel. Visa applications and approvals are handled by the relevant immigration and government authorities. How long will I need to stay in India? This varies substantially by condition and treatment. Once a specialist has reviewed your reports and a likely treatment plan is available, we can help you plan a more realistic expected stay, including recovery and follow-up before flying home. Can a family member or attendant travel with me? Many patients travel with a family member or attendant. We can take that into account when planning appointments and accommodation, while airline, immigration and hospital rules continue to apply. ## During treatment and after you return home Who makes the medical decisions? Your treating doctors and hospitals do. IndiaMedHealth helps with coordination, communication and practical navigation. We do not diagnose, prescribe medication or independently decide which treatment you should undergo. Will someone remain involved during my treatment? The aim is to provide one dependable point of contact who understands where you are in the treatment journey, helps coordinate communication and keeps the practical steps organised. What happens after I return home? We can help keep you connected with the treating team, coordinate follow-up reports or questions and support continuity between your doctors at home and the team that treated you in India when needed. Can you help with prescribed medicines after treatment? Where legally permissible, we can help coordinate communication about prescribed medicines and appropriate licensed channels. We do not independently prescribe, dispense or substitute medication. ## About IndiaMedHealth Is IndiaMedHealth a hospital or medical clinic?
